Endoscopic Forehead & Brow Lift
A forehead lift (also
called brow lift) is used to minimize some of the most visible signs of
aging, which appear on eyelids, eyebrows and forehead. The procedure
can smooth frown lines on the forehead — especially those that make a
person look angry, sad or tired - as well as elevate the position of
the eyebrows and correct drooping eyelids. The result is a younger,
smoother and more refreshed look.

A forehead lift is most
common among patients over the age of 40, who wish to reduce the
effects of aging. However, the procedure can also be performed on
patients of any age who have developed frown lines due to stress or
muscle activity. Additionally, it can help patients with inherited
conditions — such as a low brow or visible lines above the nose -
achieve a more rejuvenated appearance.

Though a brow or
forehead lift is not a new concept, the use of endoscopic techniques
for this procedure is relatively recent. Due to the latest advances in
plastic surgery, the endoscopic forehead lift is a relatively simple
procedure, whose results can last 5 to 10 years or even longer.
Compared to the traditional forehead lift, the endoscopic lift is a
minimally invasive procedure associated with smaller incisions, less
visible scars, less swelling and bruising and a faster recovery.
In a traditional forehead lift, the surgeon typically makes a long
scalp incision, which runs from one ear level to another, behind the
hairline. By contrast, an endoscopic forehead lift will require three
to five small incisions, each less than an inch long. All the incisions
are hidden behind the hairline and thus not visible. An endoscope —
which is a thin camera device connected to a monitor — is then inserted
through one of the incisions, allowing the surgeon to view the muscles
and tissues underneath the skin while working. Using another
instrument, the surgeon will lift the forehead skin and tighten the
muscles and tissues below, while also adjusting the position of the
eyebrows if necessary. The result is a smoother forehead, minimized
frown lines, raised upper eyelids and a more animated and youthful
appearance.
